Hot oil sizzled and flour covered the hands of student cooks as the Chinese Academy tackled a most exciting culinary feat - “Dumpling Day”! 

From 2:30pm to 4:00pm, the dining hall bustled with quick handiwork and new vocabulary lessons. Students gathered around tables to learn how to properly fold freshly-rolled dumpling dough, then used this technique to stuff, fold, and cook over 600 dumplings!

Students and faculty alike saw the benefits to their hard work and detailed preparation when the first batch of cooked dumplings came out of the pot and onto the plate. We couldn’t wait to taste the first ones, and those “jiao zi” (dumplings) were definitely “hen hao chi” (delicious)!
